AWBI seeks explanation on dog death at pound

Pune: The Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) has sought an explanation from the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) for the death of a dog from maggot wounds at its pound recently. Animal welfare officers alleged that dogs not meant for sterilization as well as lactating are illegally picked up by PCMC and left to die at the pound without food, water or treatment.
