The electricity board’s scheme of offering a cash prize to citizens who report power theft in their neighbourhood has worked. The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Corporation Limited (MSEDCL) has succeeded, at least partially, in tackling the menace of power theft based on ‘anonymous callers’ who inform the board about alleged power theft.
