Pune architects get Unesco award for Sakhargad temple conservation work

The Shri Sakhargad Niwasini Devi Temple complex in Kinhai village near Satara recently received the Unesco Asia-Pacific awards for cultural heritage conservation programme, after it was restored by the city-based Kimaya architects, headed by conservationist Kiran Kalamdani.

This is Pune division's first Unesco award. Total 14 projects from 10 countries, including Afghanistan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, New Zealand and Thailand were the contenders for the award.
