Aditya Birla Hospital doctors carry out first ever paediatric incompatible blood group kidney transplant in the city
The doctors of Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital in Thergaon, performed a rare incompatible blood group (ABO mismatch) pediatric kidney transplant, without plasma exchange, the first such surgery in city. The hospital’s team of doctors performed the rare surgery on ten-year-old Girish Thorat of Satara district, who was suffering from end stage renal failure, thus gifting him a dialysis-free life. Girish’s grandmother Sujata had donated her kidney. The doctors claimed that this was the first paediatric Incompatible Kidney transplant in the country.
