PCMC to soon get 200 cycles under Smart City project

Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will soon get 200 new cycles under the Smart City bicycle-sharing initiative. In the first phase, they will be deployed in Pimple Saudagar and Pimple Gurav in August. Four companies — Pedl, Yulu, Mobike and Mobicyle — have shown interest in providing these cycles, with expenses to be taken care of by the Centre. Posh societies will provide parking spaces, as will parts around the local BRTS corridor. A PCMC official said, “We had been planning to execute this for quite some time and hope it will be a success, now that many people in Pune are responding well to the initiative. The bikes will be deployed around Independence Day and more can be expected in coming months.” — PMB
