Twin cities want stake in Metro name

PCMC mayor says major part of project’s work has begun in Pimpri-Chinchwad, so it should be part of naming

Even though it has been christened the Pune Metro project, work for this mammoth initiative actually began in Pimpri-Chinchwad first, in June 2017. But, a few months after work began, Pimpri-Chinchwad Mayor Nitin Kalje realised that the twin towns have not been duly represented in the naming of the project. Now, the leaders of Pimpri-Chinchwad have demanded that the government should formally rename the project as Pune-Pimpri-Chinchwad Metro.
