Revamped zoo will be home to anacondas

Feted by PCMC to be completed by May, the upgraded facility will be home to an exciting group of reptiles and birds, some will be seen first time in state

The Bahinabai Chaudhary Zoo (BCZ), Akurdi run by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), is on course for an overall revamp that will give it an international feel and visitors can expect to have a first of its kind experience in the country. For the revamp the municipal body has selected the tagline ‘Small is beautiful’ and the revamp focuses of appreciating the beauty and significance of smaller creatures. The local body has now decided to divert people’s attention from large mammals, to reptiles and birds which are equally important according to zoo authorities.
