Dhol-tasha competition to encourage artistes:
Sakaal Times: The Sakal Media Group will organise a state-level dhol-tasha competition to encourage artistes in this music form.
The elementary round of the contest will be held in Pune, Kolhapur and Nashik from September 10 to 14 and the final round will be held in Pune.
Four teams will be selected for the final round of the contest. The prize winners will be honoured with a trophy and attractive cash prizes.
A large number of people have responded enthusiastically to be associated with the contest. City-based Amit Gaikwad Group’s director Amit Gaikwad has offered premises of his office for the contest. The elementary and final rounds in the city will be held at the lawns of the Krishnasundar Garden Karyalaya near the Ravindra Mhatre bridge.
A large number of youngsters in the city have shown interest in dhol-tasha for the past few years and are rehearsing for the forthcoming Ganesh festival at various places in the city.
The number of dhol-tasha troupes in the city and neighbouring Pimpri-Chinchwad is estimated to be around 100.
The state-level contest is organised to provide a wider forum for dhol-tasha.
